Firstly, they required an Introduction film that succinctly outlined their unique offering to a varied audience. Secondly, a training film was required to give teachers whose schools have signed up to the programme an introduction to the resources available and how they can access them.
We needed to create two films with very different purposes and audiences, but that had to sit next to each in terms of style and visuals.
The company’s Introduction film needed to outline the PhunkyFoods proposition, cover it’s USPs and explain how it works.
In regards to the training film we also had the requirement of using actuality footage of the PhunkyFoods programme being used in schools and using contributions from nutritionists, teachers and children. This film needed to be detailed so that it gave the teachers enough knowledge to use the programme and its resources effectively, but it also had to be succinct as its predominant audience would be teachers and they don’t have the time or inclination to sit through hours of material.
In regards to the Introduction film it was always going to be a challenge trying to jam a wealth of information and detail into a four-minute film. We needed to explain PhunkyFoods USPs in a smart, engaging way that would hook a diverse audience. We decided a narrated animation that covered all our key messages in a dizzying combination of visuals and audio would be the correct approach. The result is a fast-paced, entertaining summary of the PhunkyFoods journey that covers its history and conception; explains its products and resources; and promotes its theoretical basis and necessity in today’s modern world. It’s so crammed full of substance and style you’ll need to watch it twice. To sustain this visual approach in the training films, and meet the requirement for actuality footage and contributor interviews, we decided that we could jump between subject matters quickly, and in a more engaging style, by incorporating animated sequences style created for the Introduction film. The result is an informative visual rollercoaster of a film that combines live action actuality, stylized interviews, animated sequences and typographical graphics.
