Last year the event was held at the Churchill War Rooms and it is a major annual event for the team at Juice Learning. This particular event allows Juice Learning a unique opportunity to introduce new people to the company.
Over 60 Health and Safety professionals joined us for the event, from companies including; Arriva, BP, Kuehne+Nagel, Lafarge Tarmac, Costain, Travis Perkins, AMEC & Sodexo, amongst many others.
The day was split into two 3-hour Behavioural Safety Training sessions, delivered by Juice Learning’s Learning and Development Director, Matt Cleve. The session included the basic principles of behavioural safety and its impact within the working environment. Theatre and media was also included in the sessions and they worked perfectly with the location, a former Royal Navy ship! Within the performances, we were able to present a wide range of challenging attitudes and behaviours, combined with tensions between the Royal Navy Project Manager (played by Owain Ford) and Civilian Contractors (played by Jim Allen and Hayley Mason), all of these contributed to an unsafe working environment and lead to a disastrous consequence.
John O’Keefe, Head of Health & Safety at the London Legacy Development Corporation, attended both the afternoon and the morning sessions and spoke about Juice Learning and how he has worked with them in the past. John’s feedback was extremely positive for the company, a selection of comments include:
“Juice do not only just provide ‘what you want to hear’ they are challenging of the organisation’s current culture and can identify areas for improvement.”
“They work closely with their client to ensure that the day runs smoothly and are able to offer their own experience of holding events to inform ongoing plans.”
“Juice are happy to take constructive feedback from their client and incorporate it into the planning process.”
“I have yet to find anything negative about the Juice delivery.”
“Their facilitators and actors are first class.”
“They populate each session with the right ingredients mixing humour and serious debate appropriately.”
Delegate feedback was also overwhelmingly positive, with many of the attendees stating that the blend of theatre, media and discussion made the subject feel “real” and hard hitting! Feedback from the delegates include:
“Thought provoking and worthwhile.”
“Wow! What a great experience; I will be giving serious thought to how Juice can help my organisation.”
Even the actors who work with Juice Learning cannot speak highly enough of their experience, Owain Ford commented:
“Working for Juice Learning is great. If I could do it full time, I would. They are an excellent company who treat and respect their staff/actors really well. In my line of work as a self-employed actor companies that do that seem to be few and far between. It's sad but true, that in a saturated market people and companies tend to treat you as dispensable. I have never felt like that working for Juice and hence it brings out the best in me.”
“I feel the events that I deliver with Juice are innovative and engaging. From watching a stunt man ‘trip’ and fall 60 foot to performing on the HMS Belfast in the middle of the Thames. Each project fills me with excitement to see what they will come up with next. I can't wait for my next one!”
I found the event very interesting and it was a great experience for me to take away for my future chosen career. It also showed me that not all events have to be boring, as Juice Learning presented an inspiring session, including; not only getting the importance of the content across to the delegates, but also making it fun and exciting by including media and theatrical performances.
I have thoroughly enjoyed myself, every single minute, on my week of work experience at Juice Learning! Within a week I feel my confidence levels and communication skills have increased and improved, this is brilliant as it will help me in the future. Even though I have been on my work experience, the team found me a lot of work to participate in and have also included me in discussions regarding the high profile event. The whole experience of being part of the Juice Learning team, from being in the office and being in London has been a fantastic and an extremely interesting experience! Each member of the team made me feel very comfortable and this made my week even more enjoyable! My work at Juice Learning has been fantastic and I don’t want to leave!
